Bernard Parham (born 30 October 1946) is an American chess master most famous for advocating a chess opening known as the Parham Attack. He is a US Chess Federation national master. He is also known for inventing the Matrix Notation for chess as an alternative to the algebraic notation. One of the advantages of the Matrix Notation is that it is rotatable 180 degrees without any loss of orientation information.
