CeCe McDonald (born May 26, 1989) is an American transgender woman, convicted killer and, after release from prison, LGBTQ activist. Originally charged with murder for the stabbing and killing of unarmed 47 year old Dean Schmitz in June 2012, McDonald accepted a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree manslaughter with a sentence of 41 months. McDonald was then housed as a man at the St Cloud prison despite identifying as female.
