Charles Richard Benstead MC (21 April 1896 – 3 July 1980) was an English first-class cricketer, Royal Navy officer and author. Benstead served in the Royal Garrison Artillery during the First World War, during which he was awarded with the Military Cross. Following the war he played first-class cricket while studying at the University of Cambridge, before joining the Royal Navy after his graduation. He served in the navy from 1922–46, playing first-class cricket for the Royal Navy Cricket Club. Following his retirement, he wrote several books and became associated in the running of St Catharine's College, Cambridge.
