Charlotte Gilmore Durante (aka Mama Charlotte) (born April 19, 1944, in Forkland, Alabama) was elected in 1978 the first African American woman City Commissioner in Delray Beach, Florida. The City of Delray Beach is located in the southern part of the east coast of the State of Florida in Palm Beach County.
