Mary Cheves West Perky (1874–1940) was an American psychologist who studied under Edward B. Titchener at Cornell University. In 1910, she performed the "Banana Experiment," which led to the discovery of the Perky effect. The Perky effect examines the link between mental imagery and visual perception.
