William J. Derek Howes (first ¼ 1913 – death unknown) was a Welsh rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He played club level rugby union (RU) for Llanelli RFC, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales, and at club level for Wakefield Trinity (Heritage No. 550), and Featherstone Rovers (Heritage No. 350), as a second-row, or loose forward, i.e. number 11 or 12, or 13, during the era of contested scrums.
