Froila Vermudez was a Galician nobleman born in the 11th century, is the first known member of the House of Trava (or Traba). This family was original from the Costa da Morte. He was an important count in the north and north-west of Galicia. After dying in the Cospeito in 1091 was buried in Monastery of Xuvia, who had maintained a close relationship, he left three daughters and three sons, Pedro Fróilaz de Traba was his political heir, their properties covered about much of the current territory of the Province of A Coruña north of river Tambre (old Tamara).
