About

edit

Gary Halpin (14 February 1966 - 24 February 2021) was an Irish former rugby union international player who played for Wanderers F.C., Leinster, London Irish, Harlequins and the Irish national rugby union team. He played as a prop. He played for the Ireland team from 1990 to 1995, winning 11 caps and scoring one try against New Zealand (and celebrating with a gesture he later admitted regretting). Halpin made his debut in January 1990 against England in a 23–0 defeat. He was part of the Ireland squad at the 1991 Rugby World Cup and the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
