Gennadiy Grigoryevich Onishchenko (Russian: Геннадий Григорьевич Онищенко, born November 20, 1950, Kyrgyz SSR, Soviet Union) is a Russian government official. From 1996 to 2014 Onishchenko has been the Chief Sanitary Inspector of Russia, succeeding Yevgeny Belyayev. He presided over the decision to ban Moldovan and Georgian wines, as well as other Georgian products, in 2006 and the Milk War against Belarus in 2009. On June 24, 2009, Eduard Kokoity granted Onishchenko honorary citizenship of South Ossetia.. On October 23, 2013 he was succeeded by Anna Popova.
