About

George Lyall (1779 – 1 September 1853) was Chairman of the Honourable East India Company in 1830. He had a range of other business interests involving shipping. He served as a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for the City of London from 1833 to 1835 and again from 1841 to 1847. He was born at Newcastle-on-Tyne in Durham, the eldest son of John Lyall and Jane Comyns. He died in London, Middlesex.
