Gloria Tristani served from 1997 to 2001 as a member of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she is married to Judge Gerard W. Thomson and is the mother of Vanesa and Jorge. A graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, she obtained her Juris Doctor at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Born on December 20, 1953, she is the granddaughter of Dennis Chavez, who served as a U.S. Representative from New Mexico from 1931 to 1935 and a U.S. Senator from that state from 1935 until his death in 1962.
