Handyala Lakshminarayanaswamy Dattu (born 3 December 1950) is a former Chief Justice of India(CJI), and the current chairman of the National Human Rights Commission. As the CJI he served for nearly 14 months, from 28 September 2014 to 2 December 2015. Before his elevation as a judge of the Supreme Court of India on 17 December 2008; he had served as the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court and Chhattisgarh High Court.
