Hans-Karl Wittig (27 July 1918 – 29 December 1984) was a highly decorated Leutnant of the Reserves in the Fallschirmjäger during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Hans-Karl Wittig was captured by British forces in September 1944 and was held in captivity until 1948.
