About

edit

Hideki Irabu (伊良部 秀輝, Irabu Hideki, May 5, 1969 – July 27, 2011) was a Japanese professional baseball player of American and Japanese mixed ancestry. He was one of the leading fastball pitchers of the 1990s in Japan, with the highest pitch speed in Japanese baseball at 158 km/h. He is the first Asian World Series champion, and was a two-time World Champion. He was looking for his father, whom he had lost track of after being separated from him as a child, because he thought he might be able to see him if he played for the prestigious Yankees, but Irabu never told anyone about this reason.
