Hovhannes Hovhannisyan (Armenian: Հովհաննես Հովհաննիսյան, 26 April [O.S. 14 April] 1864 – 29 September 1929) was an Armenian poet, linguist, translator and educator. He was a key contributor to the Ashkharabar (Modern Armenian) literature movement and a promoter of literacy in Armenia. He has been called the founder of Classic Armenian poetry.
