Tan Sri Ismail Omar is the 9th and former Inspector General of Royal Malaysian Police succeeding Tan Sri Musa Hassan and was succeeded by Tan Sri Dato' Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar. On 13 September 2013 he was appointed the new ambassador to France by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
