James Murray Mason (November 3, 1798 – April 28, 1871), a grandson of George Mason, was a Senator from Virginia. He strongly supported the secession of Virginia. He traveled to England as Commissioner of the Confederate States of America, but was unable to get the United Kingdom to recognize the Confederacy as a country.
