Jean-Charles-Alphonse Avinain dit Davinain (14 October 1798 – 28 November 1867), known as "The Terror of Gonesse" and "The Butcher of Clichy-la-Garenne", was a French criminal and murderer, found guilty of murdering two people. He became known for his quote: "Gentlemen, never confess! Never admit!"
