Jean-François Brière (23 September 1929 - 25 June 1992) was a Haitian poet, journalist, and diplomat. Brière, one of Haiti's best writers, has produced a significant body of poetry to his credit. Brière founded the newspaper "La Bataille", where its criticism against the regime of Stenio Vincent and the United States occupation of Haiti earned him two years of closed detention in the national penitentiary.
