Jess Herbst (born Jeffrey Herbst, October 14, 1958) is a Texan politician and transgender rights activist, currently serving as the mayor of New Hope, Texas, a position she has held since May, 2016, Herbst is the first openly transgender mayor in Texas as well as the first openly transgender elected official in Texas.
