Dame Joanna Margaret Cruickshank DBE RRC (1875 – 16 August 1958) founded the Royal Air Force Nursing Service in November 1918 and served as its first Matron-in-Chief. In November 1930 she retired as Matron-in Chief a post she had held since 1921.
