John the Silent (January 8, 452 – May 13, 558) is a Christian saint. He was born in Nicopolis (Today: Koyulhisar, Turkey) and after the death of his parents in 471 founded a monastery. In 482 he was made Bishop of Taxara, Armenia and left the office nine years later to become a recluse in the monastery of St. Sabas.
