Kathleen Courtney Hochul ( HOH-kull; born August 27, 1958) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 57th governor of New York since 2021. She served as lieutenant governor from January 2015 to August 2021, taking office as governor after Andrew Cuomo's resignation. She is the first woman to serve as governor of New York.
