About

Kole Suma Heqimi (1765–1832) was the first Albanian doctor and the personal physician of Mustafa Pasha Bushatli, who ruled much of Shkoder during the Ottoman Empire. Heqimi participated in the Russo-Turkish War in 1828. In 1824 Heqimi traveled with the Pasha of Shkoder to the battle of [Vidinos]]. He studied in Venice and was married to the sister of pharmacist Francesco Tedeschini. Heqimi was also the personal physician of Ibrahim Pashe Bushatli. For 42 years he worked as a professional doctor until his death in 1832.
