Paul Kristian "Kris" Povlsen III (born January 16, 1948 in Oak Park, Illinois) was the Mayor of Dekalb, Illinois, home to Northern Illinois University. Povlsen was elected to his first full term on April 7, 2009, after being appointed acting mayor in August 2008. On September 21, 2012 Povlsen announced via press release that he would not be running for reelection.
