Lavinia Spalding is a San Francisco-based author whose books include Writing Away: A Creative Guide to Awakening the Journal-Writing Traveler (Travelers' Tales, 2009) and With a Measure of Grace: The Story and Recipes of a Small Town Restaurant (Provecho Press, 2004), the cookbook and story of Hell's Backbone Grill, a farm-to-table restaurant in Boulder, Utah (co-written ). She is also the editor of The Best Women's Travel Writing 2011 (Travelers' Tales, 2011). A regular contributor to Yoga Journal, her work has also appeared in magazines and literary journals including Sunset Magazine, Post Road, Inkwell and World Hum. "Writing Away" was named one of the ten best travel books of 2009 by the Los Angeles Times.
