Leo Bersani (April 16, 1931 – February 20, 2022) was an American literary theorist and Professor Emeritus of French at the University of California, Berkeley. He also taught at Wellesley College and Rutgers University. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1992. Bersani was known for his path-breaking work entitled Homos. His contribution to gender and sexuality theories is noteworthy. Most of his research was a significant contribution in the area of homosexuality and queer theory.
