Lucien Szpiro (23 December 1941 – 18 April 2020) was a French mathematician, known for his work in number theory, arithmetic algebraic geometry, and commutative algebra. He served as a Distinguished Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center and formulated Szpiro's conjecture, which is related to the abc conjecture.
