Margaret W. Rossiter (July 8, 1944 – August 3, 2025) was an American historian of science, and Marie Underhill Noll Professor of History of Science Emerita of the History of Science, at Cornell University. Rossiter coined the term Matilda effect in 1993; it means bias against acknowledging the achievements of women scientists whose work is attributed to their male colleagues.
