Saint Mariam Baouardy, O.C.D. (Arabic: مريم باواردي, or Mary of Jesus Crucified, 5 January 1846 – 26 August 1878), was a Discalced Carmelite nun of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. Born to Greek Catholic parents from Syria and Lebanon, she was known for her service to the poor while refusing forced conversion to Islam. In addition, she became a Christian mystic who suffered the stigmata, and has been canonized by the Catholic Church.
