Maris Bustamante (born November 10, 1949) is an Mexican interdisciplinary artist who presented 21 solo exhibitions and over 400 group shows in Mexico and internationally. She has imagined, written, produced and performed more than 250 performances, installations, environments and two big “contraespectáculos” (against the traditional spectacle). She has presented performance art pieces through commercial TV, seen by millions which she called social performances involving a public distant from formal arts. She also designs environments, costumes and objects for theatre, TV, cinema.
