About

edit

Mary Hobart (1851-c. 1930) was a medical doctor in Boston, Massachusetts in the late 19th and early 20th century. She specialized in obstetrics where she was known for her independence and resources. There are many times in her life where her career correlated with that of her great-great-grandmother's, Martha Ballard. Nevertheless, Mary Hobart sought out the medical profession by her own ambition as an early entrant. Her service was due in part to caring for the poor in hospitals. Furthermore, Hobart chose to be single for her entire life since she could independently support herself. She practiced for 30 years in Boston before she decided to retire in Needham Heights, Massachusetts.
