Ramón Matías Mella Castillo (25 February 1816 – 4 June 1864), was an early Dominican revolutionary, politician, and military general. Ramón is regarded as a national hero in the Dominican Republic. The Order of Merit of Duarte, Sanchez and Mella is partially named in his honor.
