Mike Pitt (b? - ), from Laurens, South Carolina, is a four-term member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. He is most famous for his suggestion in 2010 that his state move away from using U.S. currency in favor of gold and silver bullion. Pitts said that the proposal is an attempt to preserve the economy of South Carolina in the midst of inflationary policy. Pitts sees federal monetary policy as an intrusion on states' rights.
