Mitchell T. Rabkin (born November 27, 1930) has spent his professional life in medicine. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Rabkin began his career at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). At just 36 years of age, he became President and CEO of Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital that he led for over 30 years. During his tenure, the hospital took many important steps, including creation and adoption of the nation’s first Patient Bill of Rights, focusing on innovation in patient care, support of medical education and research, a merger into Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and partnership with other hospitals and clinics.
