The Rt Rev Montagu John Stone-Wigg was an Anglican Colonial Bishop who in the last decade of the 19th century and the first one of the 20th. . He was born on 4 October 1861 and educated at Winchester and University College, Oxford. Ordained in 1885, he was the first Canon at St John's Cathedral, Brisbane and the inaugural Bishop of New Guinea. He died on 16 October 1918.
