Moses Harris (October 8, 1837 – June 27, 1927) was a member of the United States Army, who fought for the Union during the American Civil War, and was awarded the Medal of Honor. He was born on October 8, 1837 in Andover, New Hampshire. He stayed in New Hampshire until enlisting to fight in the Union Army. While a First Lieutenant in the 1st U.S. Cavalry, on August 28, 1864 at Smithfield, Virginia, Harris was faced with an attack by a superior force. Lieutenant Harris was cited as having "personal gallantry" ... "so conspicuous as to inspire the men to extraordinary efforts, resulting in complete rout of the enemy." For this action, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on November 23, 1896.
