Peter Thompson (27 November 1942 – 30 December 2018) was an English footballer. Born in Carlisle, he made 560 appearances in the Football League playing for Preston North End, Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers. He played as an outside left for the Liverpool team which had major successes in the 1960s, and was capped 16 times for England. He was known for his speedy and electric style of play.
