She was elected as a Trinamool Congress candidate from Hooghly (Lok Sabha constituency), which includes the Singur area. She lost the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 to Locket Chatterjee, who was elected as a BJP candidate from Hooghly (Lok Sabha Constituency).
