Robert Thompson (1890 – ?) was an English footballer who played as a centre forward. Born in Coundon Grange, County Durham, Thompson played for Wingate Albion, Preston North End, Glossop, Durham City, Leeds United, Ashington, Luton Town, Pontypridd, Accrington Stanley, Bury, Tranmere Rovers (trial), Hartlepools United, Goole Town and York City. He was a member of the inaugural Leeds United side and was the team's top scorer in their first season. He also scored the team's first hat-trick. He gained one representative cap for the Western League.
