Sir Roger Alexander Deakins CBE (born 24 May 1949) is an English cinematographer, best known for his collaborations with directors like the Coen brothers, Sam Mendes and Denis Villeneuve on their films. Deakins has been admitted to both the British Society of Cinematographers and to the American Society of Cinematographers. He is the recipient of five BAFTA Awards for Best Cinematography, and has had fifteen nominations and two wins for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. His best-known works include The Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, A Beautiful Mind, Skyfall, Sicario, Blade Runner 2049, and 1917, the last two of which earned him the Academy Awards.
