Shaharir Mohamad Zain (born 23 January 1948) is a Malaysian mathematician specializing in physics, widely recognized by his peers as an authority in Malay cosmology. He is equally competent in mathematics, physics, philosophy and history. He is the pioneer in ethnoscience of which he claimed that different ethnicities have a unique way in intrepreting the world, including the science they produced. His aim is to build a knowledge system according to the view of Malayonesian people. He is the author of forty-three authoritative works on various aspects of Malay thought and civilization, as well as mathematics.
