His Holiness Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswamigal (13 November 1917 – 21 September 1989), born Śrinivasa Sastri, was the 35th Jagadguru Shankaracharya (ecumenical pontiff) of the Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham. He was a perfect embodiment of virtues: compassion, truthfulness, patience, fortitude and righteousness. He worked ceaselessly for years—with inspired vision and strength and an immense capacity to elevate people.
