Timothy J. Sumner (Ph.D) is Professor of Experimental Physics at Imperial College London. He is a member of the UK Dark Matter Collaboration, and Sumner's interests cover a wide range of astronomy-related fields, focusing particularly on particle physics. He was one of the candidates seriously being considered for the Nobel Prize in physics in 2016 for the discovery of gravitational waves (allegedly, as the Nobel Prize nominee names are not published until 50 after the nomination).
