Toi Derricotte (pronounced DARE-ah-cot ) (born April 12, 1941) is an American poet and a professor of writing at the University of Pittsburgh. She won a 2012 PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry. With Cornelius Eady, she co-founded Cave Canem Foundation, a summer workshop for African-American poets. She is the 2020 recipient of the Frost Medal for distinguished lifetime achievement in poetry awarded by the Poetry Society of America.
