Ventsislav Vasilev (Bulgarian: Венцислав Василев), 53 years, set himself on fire on February 26, 2013 in front of the Radnevo Municipality. It is not known if Vasilev raised political slogans. He and his wife were long-term unemployed, and they were cut off from welfare after his mother sold some of their land in 2011. According to Vasilev's son, his father took this step after a bailiff threatened to put him in prison for not paying a bill. One of his other sons stated that his father had done this in order to get people to pay attention to what was happening to their family. Ventzislav Vasilev died of his wounds on March 10, 2013.
