Victor Saracini was the captain of United Airlines Flight 175 when he was murdered by hijackers during the September 11 attacks. He was from Atlantic City, New Jersey and graduated in 1976 from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He served in the Navy, where he trained as a pilot, then worked for United Airlines for about 16 years. He was survived by his wife, Ellen, and two children, Kirsten and Brielle. Classmates of Saracini, through the Alumni Association of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, have endowed a scholarship in his name.
