Walter R. Mears (January 11, 1935 – March 3, 2022) was an American journalist, author, and teacher. He was one of the subjects of the 1973 non-fiction book The Boys on the Bus, which focused on reporters covering the 1972 presidential election between Richard Nixon and George McGovern. He won the 1977 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for his coverage of the 1976 Presidential campaign and election.
