Abe Edward Pierce III (October 28, 1934 – 2021) was an educator in his native Monroe, Louisiana, who was the first African American to have served as mayor of his city. A Democrat, Pierce held the position for one term from 1996 to 2000, when he was unseated by the Republican candidate, Melvin Rambin.
