Farah Noor Adams (1970/1971 – October 7, 2005) was a Scottish woman who was murdered in Glasgow in 2005. She was a part-time youth worker, aged 34, a Muslim, separated from her husband, bringing up a daughter aged eight. She was raped twice, beaten with a brick then murdered while exercising on a footpath beside the River Kelvin in Maryhill. Volunteers working on the Forth and Clyde Canal discovered her body around two hours after she dropped her daughter off at school. The case shocked many Glaswegians because it took place in broad daylight in a fairly busy area of the city. Adams' estranged husband had previously been jailed for six years for attempting to murder her, but the police quickly eliminated him from the enquiry. Glasgow Muslim community leaders Bashir Maan and Mohammad Sarwar M.P. have visited her family. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/4685562.stm On October 11, Thomas Waddell, aged 18, from Maryhill, was arrested in connection with the case. On February 6, 2006 he pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of Adams. Waddell has received a minimum of 16 years in prison.
